from the Stack's Bowers June 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72671

This specimen was lot 72671 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $780. The catalog description^[1] noted, "PERU. 20 Soles, 1966. Lima Mint. NGC MS-67. A satiny luster creates a subtle beauty that is complimented by ever so slight toning. It is no surprise it is tied for the finest certified by NGC." This denomination, struck 1950-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold five, ten, fifty and hundred soles.
