This specimen was lot 25269 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $1,667.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand VII gold 8 Escudos 1817-JP, AU50 NGC, sharply struck bust details with virtually full mint luster, small lamination on the reverse coat of arms." This coin was minted 1814-21 and turns up more often than the Mexican coin of the same type.
