This specimen was lot 2283 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 700 CHF (about US$831 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Nurnberg, City, Taler 1638. Vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Nuremburg, thaler of 1638, Extremely fine.)"
This type, minted 1637-41, is not cheap but is among the more available Nuremberg thalers of the seventeenth century. The oval shape suggests the use of roller dies.
