Sincona sale 63, lot 414

This specimen was lot 414 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 1,400 CHF (about US$1,754 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND | Nurnberg, City. 1/2 Reichsguldiner 1639. St. Sebaldus mit Kirchenmodell. Mit dem Titel Ferdinands III. Mit dem Münzmeisterzeichen Kreuz (Georg Nürnberger der Ältere). Selten. Gutes sehr schön. Hübsche Patina. (Germany, city of Nurnberg, half gulden of 1639, St. Sebaldus with church model, in the name of Ferdinand III and cross privy mark. Rare, Good very fine, Attractively toned.)"

This type was struck 1638-46 with St. Sebaldus on the obverse. Nurnberg also struck another thirty kreuzer (KM 140, arms/angels) and a sixty kreuzer (KM 143) with St. Sebaldus.
