This specimen was lot 931 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Nürnberg, Stadt Dukat 1648. Fast vorzüglich. (City of Nuremberg, ducat of 1648, choice extremely fine.)"
This type is listed for 1635, 1637, 1640, 1648 and 1686. The date is expressed in a chronogram, a fad popular in Germany in the seventeenth century wherein the date is hidden as Roman numerals in the reverse legend.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 3.46 g.
