Sincona sale 51, lot 2312

This specimen was lot 2312 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 400 CHF (about US$483 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Dukat 1635. Sehr schön. Gewellt. (city of Nurnberg, ducat of 1635, Very fine, Wavy flan.)"

The type was issued sporadically 1635-86 along with several other types of ducats, fractional ducats and multiple ducats. This date is scarce but not rare. The city was annexed to Bavaria in 1806.

Recorded mintage: unknown.
