This specimen was lot 57290 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $408. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2-1/2 Pesos, 1920/10. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-62." This type was struck at the Mexico City mint 1916-20, 1944-48 and restruck in 1945. The last branch mints, Zacatecas and Culiacan, were closed in 1905 and all official Mexican coinage since has borne the Mexico City mintmark ("M" or "Mo"). The overdate receives no premium in the SCWC but the values therein are grossly inflated.
Recorded mintage: 607,000 (regular date and overdate).
Specification: 2.08 g, 0.900 fine gold, 15.5 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: Fr-169; KM-463.
