The first specimen was lot 1495 in Stack's "Vermuele, Ward & Mexico Maxico" sale (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $345. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Estados Unidos. 10 Pesos, 1920. Eagle on cactus, snake in beak within wreath. Rv. Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. The key date to the series, lowest mintage at 12,000. The obverse shows hairlines from a past cleaning, otherwise Choice Extremely Fine." This type was struck at the Mexico City mint 1905-10, 1916-20 and restruck in 1959. It is about half the weight of the old ten pesos of the Republic.

The second specimen was lot 4501 in Goldberg sale 65 (Los Angeles, September 2011), where it sold for $460. The catalog description[2] noted, "Mexico. 10 Pesos, 1920-M. Head of Hidalgo left. Reverse: Eagle. Rarest date of the series. NGC graded AU-50."

Recorded mintage: 12,000.

Specification: 8.33 g, 0.900 fine gold, .241 troy oz AGW.
