This specimen was lot 1499 in Stack's "Vermuele, Ward & Mexico Maxico" sale (New York, January 2010), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Estados Unidos. 2½ Pesos, 1946. Eagle on cactus. Rv. Head of Hidalgo. Key date to the series. Choice About Uncirculated." This type was struck at the Mexico City mint 1916-20, 1944-48 and restruck in 1945. The SCWC notes that the 1947 is the key date.

Recorded mintage: 163,000.

Specification: 2.08 g, 0.900 fine gold, .060 troy oz AGW.
