This specimen was lot 57680 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Pesos, 1920-Mo. Mexico City Mint. PCGS MS-64." This type was struck at the Mexico City mint 1919-20, 1944-47 and restruck in 1945. The 1945 dos pesos, as the cheapest readily available gold coin, is the beloved raffle prize of coin clubs across the land. The last branch mints, Zacatecas and Culiacan, were closed in 1905 and all official Mexican coinage since has borne the Mexico City mintmark ("M" or "Mo").
