Ponterio sale 155, lot 6208

This specimen was lot 6208 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $632.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Chihuahua. 8 Reales, 1865-JC. Very attractive BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED." The Chihuahua mint struck eight reales 1831-95. Many of the early dates are rare but this one is still quite scarce. Two mintmasters (FP and JC) are known for this date, of which JC is the less rare.
