This specimen was lot 21539 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,955. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos IIII gold 8 Escudos 1803-FT, AU55 NGC, a choice example with sharp details and abundant mint luster, very attractive. From the Don Benito Collection of Hispanic Gold." This type was struck in Mexico 1792-1808 and is the most available of Mexican colonial eight escudos but remains expensive. Assayer FM is noted for the years 1784-1801.
