This specimen was lot 31301 in Heritage sale 3041 (Chicago, August 2015), where it sold for $411.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles IV gold 2 Escudos 1803 Mo-FT AU Details (Scratches) NGC, Mexico City mint. Despite several minor scratches and one slightly larger abrasion, this is an admirable example of the type. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins." All Mexican colonial gold may be considered scarce. The type was struck 1791-1808 and is the most plentiful of all the colonial two escudos.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.875 fine gold, .190 troy oz AGW.
