Sincona sale 35, lot 5249

This specimen was lot 5249 in Sincona sale 35 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 4,000 CHF (about US$4,748 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Lucerne, 12 Münzgulden (Dublone) 1796. Vorzüglich-FDC. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (canton of Luzern, duplone of twelve gulden, 1796. Extremely fine-uncirculated, Beautiful condition.)"

This rare type was struck 1794 and 1796 along with a 24 munzgulden. It matched the gold duplone struck in the other cantons.
