Luzern 1796 1/4 gulden
This specimen was lot 5367 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$452 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Luzern. Stadt und Kanton. Viertelgulden (10 Schillinge) 1796, Luzern. Schräg gerippter Rand. Revers: Kleiner Kratzer. Fast FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Luzern, quarter gulden or ten schilling of 1796, Luzern mint, obliquely reeded edge. Small reverse scratch, About Mint State.)"
This type was struck 1793 and 1796, with the 1793 appearing somewhat more often. It was accompanied by an eighth gulden (KM 81), twenty kreuzer (KM 83) and forty kreuzer (KM 84).One thaler was two gulden at the end of the eighteenth century.
