Künker sale 386, lot 5304

This specimen was lot 5304 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €460 (about US$595 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"LIPPE, GRAFSCHAFT, SEIT 1789 FÜRSTENTUM, Simon Heinrich Adolf, 1718-1734. Ku.-1/2 Pfennig 1724, Detmold. Münzmeister Münzdirektor Both. In dieser Erhaltung äußerst selten. Vorzüglich. (county of Lippe, Simon Henry Adolf, 1718-34, copper half penny of 1724, Detmold mint. Very rare in this condition, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1724 only and, like all coinage from this tiny state before unification in 1871, is rare.
