Lippe-Detmold 1719-LHL 2/3 thaler
This specimen was lot 970 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,200 (about US$1,617 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"LIPPE, GRAFSCHAFT, Simon Heinrich Adolf, 1718-1734. 2/3 Taler 1719, Detmold. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Herrliche Patina, winz. Prägeschwäche, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, county of Lippe, Simon Henry Adolf, 1718-34, two-thirds thaler of 1719, Detmold mint. Rare in this quality, handsome patina, slightly weak on reverse, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This type is listed for 1719 only and is rare. It was reissued in 1722 with a mintage of 421.
