Stack's Bowers 2014 ANA sale, lot 674

This specimen was lot 674 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $4,700. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Lippe-Detmold. Taler, 1719. Simon Heinrich Adolf (1718-34). NGC AU-50. EXTREMELY RARE. From a mintage of only 80 pieces. KM plate coin. Toned." This type is listed for 1719 only and is rare. The mintage of eighty pieces is shared between this and Dav-2384! No more thalers would be issued until 1767.
