Künker sale 386, lot 5305

This specimen was lot 5305 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €360 (about US$465 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"LIPPE, GRAFSCHAFT, SEIT 1789 FÜRSTENTUM, Simon August, 1734-1782. 1/24 Taler 1764, Detmold. Münzmeister Johann Conrad Bandel. Stempelschneider Daniel Stürmer. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. (county of Lippe, Simon Henry Adolf, 1718-34, 1/24 thaler of 1764, Detmold mint. Very scarce in this quality, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1724 only and, like all coinage from this tiny state before unification in 1871, is rare.
