Jean Elsen sale 158, lot 1115

This specimen was lot 1115 in Jean Elsen sale 158 (Brussels, March 2024), where it sold for €400 (about US$520 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"LIEGE, Principauté, Jean de Hornes (1485-1505), AR patard, s.d. Différents: cor au droit et croisette au revers. D/ Lion assis à g., soutenant l'écu incliné de Hornes. R/ Croix ornée. Extrêmement rare. Légères traces de corrosion et petit défaut de flan. Belle patine. Très Beau. (prince-bishopric of Liège, John of Hoorn, 1485-1505, undated silver patard, horn privy mark on the obverse and a crosslet on the reverse. Obverse: a lion seated left, supporting the tilted arms of Hoorn; reverse: ornate cross. Extremely rare, light traces of corrosion and minor planchet defect. Nice patina, Very Fine.)"
