Jean Elsen sale 140, lot 505

This specimen was lot 505 in Jean Elsen sale 140 (Brussels, March 2019), where it sold for €3,200 (about US$4,262 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

(prince-bishopric of Liège, John of Hoorn, bishop elect, 1484-85, undated gold florin, Liège mint. Obverse: arms in a trilobe; reverse: St. Lambert giving a blessing and bearing a crozier. This type was also struck when Jean was enthroned as bishop (Fr-300). We would include it in our list of gold ducats of Europe but it is too light.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: gold, this specimen 1,57 g.
