This type was struck 1873-84 in large numbers and is common in circulated condition. None were struck after 1892. Ten rin = one sen and 1000 rin = one yen.

Recorded mintage: 6,979,260 for 1873-74.

Specification: 0.91 g, copper, 15.75 mm diameter.
