This specimen was lot 2248 in Goldberg sale 112 (Los Angeles, September 2019), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "Japan. ½ Sen, M7 (1874). NGC graded MS-64 Red & Brown." This type was struck years 6-10 (1873-77). It was roughly equal to a half cent.
Recorded mintage: 16,804,440 for 1873-74.
Specification: 3.56 g, copper, 22.2 mm diameter.
