This specimen was lot 24178 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "ISRAEL. 20 New Sheqalim, 1996. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. Yitzhak Rabin. From a mintage of only 1,949 pieces. Hard mirror fields with frosted cameo devices. Brilliant and attractive." This commemorative is a product of the Utrecht mint and is struck in 0.999 fine gold rather than the usual 0.900 fine. Massive influx of aid from the United States fueled inflation and coinage reforms in 1960, 1980 and 1985.
