The first specimen was lot 21209 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAN. Toman (10 Kran), AH 1313 (1895). PCGS Genuine--Filed Rims, AU Details Secure Holder. Struck to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the reign of Nasir al-Din Shah. Brilliant and attractive." The second specimen was lot 1308 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[2] noted, "IRAN: Nasir al-Din Shah, 1848-1896, AR 10 kran, AH1313, 50th Anniversary of the Accession of the Shah, brown, scratches & dig in obverse field, AU, R. Nasir al-Din Shah was assassinated a few weeks before the 50th anniversary celebration was to have taken place." Another ten kran (KM 920) was issued on this occasion with a lion on the reverse instead of the inscription shown here. Both are scarce.
