This specimen was lot 4247 in Goldberg sale 80 (Los Angeles, June 2014), where it sold for $1,293. The catalog description[1] noted, "India - British. 1 Anna, 1938 (c). Copper-Nickel. Type II. George VI. NGC graded Proof 64." This one anna was struck at the Calcutta mint just before World War Two. The denomination was introduced in 1906 and struck until the end of the Raj in 1947.

Recorded mintage: 7,128,000 plus 3,126,000 from Bombay.

Specification: 3.7 g, copper-nickel.
