This specimen was lot 4248 in Goldberg sale 80 (Los Angeles, June 2014), where it sold for $235. The catalog description[1] noted, "India - British. 1/12 Anna, 1938 (c). Copper. George VI. Second head. Restrike. NGC graded Proof 64 Red." The twelfth anna was 1/192th of a rupee and was the smallest denomination struck under the predecimal system. It was struck in moderate numbers throughout the Raj until 1942. The 1938 is a proof-only date.
