India 1928(c) anna
This specimen was lot 507 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $514.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA, Colonial. British India. George V. 1910-1936. Proof CU-NI Anna. Calcutta mint. Dated 1928. In NGC encapsulation graded PF 65. Sharply struck and mirror-like gem proof. Purchased January 1967." This one anna was struck at the Calcutta mint as part of a type struck 1911-30, 1933-36. The denomination was introduced in 1906 and struck until the end of the Raj in 1947.
