The quarter rupee was struck for George V 1912-20, 1925-30, 1934 and 1936 at Calcutta and Bombay. It is about the size of a dime but had 12¢ worth of silver. The 1928 is common from both mints. The dot below the lotus flower marks this as a product of the Bombay mint.

Recorded mintage: 4,032,000 plus 4,013,000 from Calcutta.

Specification: 2.92 g, 0.917 fine silver, 19 mm diameter, reeded edge.
