This specimen was lot 46727 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 1/4 Rupee, 1929-(C). Calcutta Mint. George V. NGC MS-64." This type was struck 1912-20, 1925-30, 1934 and 1936. The 1929 is a common date for Calcutta; Bombay skipped this year. In the 1950's and 1960's both mints restruck coins of the Raj for sale to collectors; many restrikes may be distinguished by rusty dies.
Recorded mintage: 4,013,000 plus proofs and restrikes.
