This one anna was struck at the Calcutta mint as part of a type struck 1912-36. The Bombay mint also produced this type but not in 1929. The denomination was introduced in 1906 and struck until the end of the Raj in 1947. This specimen was lot 22579 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $376. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Anna, 1929-(C). Restrike. NGC PL-64. Scalloped edge with full mirror fields. A touch of light clear tone in the blue and amber hues. Quite attractive for the issue."
Recorded mintage: 42,200,000 plus restrikes.
