Stephen Album sale 50, lot 2640

This specimen was lot 2640 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: George V, 1910-1936, AE 1/2 pice, 1929(c), a wonderful quality example for type! NGC graded MS65 RB." Half a pice was one-eighth of an anna or 1/128th of a rupee. It was struck in moderate numbers throughout the Raj until 1942. This type was struck only at Calcutta.

Recorded mintage: 7,654,000 plus proofs and restrikes.

Specification: 2.4 g, bronze, 21.05 mm diameter.
