The first specimen was lot 2785 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $89.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: George V, 1910-1936, AR ½ rupee, 1928(b), attractive lustrous surfaces, PCGS graded MS63." The second specimen was lot 56570 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[2] noted, "INDIA. 1/2 Rupee, 1928-(B). Bombay Mint. George V. PCGS MS-65." This half rupee was struck at the Bombay mint at the end of the reign of George V. It was never minted in the immense numbers of the George V rupees but it is not rare, being struck steadily 1912-30, 1933-36. The minting of rupees effectively ceased after 1922.

Recorded mintage: 2,466,000 + proofs. No half rupees were made at Calcutta in 1928.
