The first specimen was lot 624 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: George V, 1910-1936, AR 1/2 rupee, 1926(b), a lovely mint state example, NGC graded MS64." The second specimen was lot 2657 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: George V, 1910-1936, AR 1/2 rupee, 1926(b), a wonderful example, PCGS graded MS64." This half rupee was struck at the Bombay mint at the end of the reign of George V. It was never minted in the immense numbers of the George V rupees but it is not rare, being struck steadily 1912-30, 1933-36. Bombay minted none between 1928 and 1936. The minting of rupees effectively ceased after 1922.

Recorded mintage: 2,011,000 plus proofs and restrikes plus 4,027,000 from Calcutta.

Specification: 5.83 g, 0.917 fine silver.
