Stack's Bowers September 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 75123

This specimen was lot 75123 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Copper-Nickle Anna Restrike, 1926-(B). Bombay Mint. George V. NGC PROOF-64. A powerfully reflective proof restrike in near-Gem grade. A few hairlines on the mirrored surfaces but quite pleasing altogether." This one anna was struck at the Bombay mint as part of a type struck 1911-20, 1923-30, 1933-36. The denomination was introduced in 1906 and struck until the end of the Raj in 1947.

Recorded mintage: 8,088,000 plus restrikes.

Specification: 3.8 g, copper-nickel, 21 mm diameter.
