Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 42259

This specimen was lot 42259 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $456. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Copper-Nickel Anna Restrike, 1927-(B). Bombay Mint. George V. NGC PROOF-65." This one anna was struck at the Bombay mint as part of a type struck 1911-20, 1923-30, 1933-36. The denomination was introduced in 1906 and struck until the end of the Raj in 1947.

Recorded mintage: 12,953,000 plus proofs and restrikes.

Specification: 3.8 g, copper-nickel, 21 mm diameter.
