Sincona sale 75, lot 411

This specimen was lot 411 in Sincona sale 75 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 34,000 CHF (about US$41,269 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA | British India | East India Company, Victoria, 1837-1901. 1/2 Anna 1892, Calcutta. Proof. Restrike. Off-metal strike in gold. Von grösster Seltenheit. NGC PF62. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (Of the highest rarity, Magnificent condition.)" This type was struck for circulation in 1877 at Bombay and Calcutta. Additional dates (1878-79, 1884, 1890-93) exist but were struck for sale to collectors.

Recorded mintage: unknown but none made for circulation.
