This specimen was lot 412 in Sincona sale 75 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 28,000 CHF (about US$33,987 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA | British India| East India Company,Victoria, 1837-1901. 1/4 Anna 1892, Calcutta. Proof. Restrike. Off-metal strike in gold. Von grösster Seltenheit. NGC PF61. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (Of the highest rarity, Magnificent condition.)" This type was struck at Calcutta 1877-1901 and at Bombay 1877, 1881, 1883-84, 1886-90 only. It is common altho the off-metal strikes, made for collectors, are rare.
