This specimen was lot 73697 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 1/2 Anna Restrike, 1891-(B). Bombay Mint. Victoria. PCGS PROOF-63 Red. This proof restrike shimmers with vivid copper luster. Boldly struck on both sides and displaying an impressive portrait of Victoria as empress. One gap in the mint finishing is noted on each side." This type was struck for circulation in 1877 at Bombay and Calcutta. Additional dates (1878-79, 1884, 1890-93) exist but were struck for sale to collectors.
