This specimen was lot 33716 in Heritage sale 3114 (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $6,300. The lot description[1] noted, "British India. Victoria Proof 1/2 Anna 1891-(c) PR63 Red and Brown PCGS, Calcutta mint. 4.75 jabot panels, 'V' on ground-line. An unusual combination of obverse characteristics for this scarce original Proof, imbued with an appreciable conditional assignment and plenty of mint red to boot." This type was struck for circulation in 1877 at Bombay and Calcutta. Additional dates (1878-79, 1884, 1890-93) exist but were struck for sale to collectors.

Recorded mintage: unknown but none made for circulation.

Specification: copper or aluminum.

Catalog reference: KM 487, S&W-6.474 var. (there without "V" on ground-line of bust), Prid-591. The aluminum restrike is KM 487a.
