Künker sale 264, lot 3491

This specimen was lot 3491 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,033 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Leopold II. 1790-1792. Dukat 1792, Kremnitz. GOLD. Attraktives Exemplar mit feiner Goldpatina, fast vorzüglich. (Hungary, Leopold II, 1790-92, ducat of 1792, Kremnitz mint. Attractive with fine gold color, choice extremely fine.)"

This type was minted for Leopold II 1791-92 and earns a premium because of the brevity of his reign. The preceding issues for Joseph II and succeeding issues for Francis II are common.

Reported Mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.50 g.

Catalog reference: Fr-205; J. 86, KM 407.2.
