Hungary 1792 ducat Fr-209
This specimen was lot 3873 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €1,500 (about US$1,968 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Franz II. 1792-1804. Dukat 1792, Kremnitz. GOLD. Min. Randfehler, vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Francis II, 1792-1804, ducat of 1792, Kremnitz mint. Minor rim nicks, extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1792-99 and is counted as common. A similar ducat was struck in 1792 for the shortlived Leopold II (KM 407.2). The auctioneers listed this under Austria but it was made in Hungary and that is where we will file it.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.44 g.
