The first specimen was lot 4138 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $481.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Holland. Stuiver, 1738. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. Gold. Tied with two others in this grade, with two higher." The second specimen was lot 73298 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[2] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Holland. Stuiver, 1738. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. A pleasing minor issue featuring gunmetal gray surfaces and a hint of luster peeking through around the devices." The third specimen was lot 57751 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[3] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Holland. Gold Stuiver, 1738. NGC MS-64." This type was struck in Holland 1738-40 and 1760-64 of debased silver, after which the denomination was retired. The catalog also records a lengthy series struck in gold. The gold stuiver weighed half a ducat.
