Holland 1693 rijksdaalder Dav-4831
This specimen was lot 754 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$305 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NIEDERLANDE Holland, Provinz. Reichstaler 1693, Dordrecht. Nederlandse rijksdaalder. Stempelschneider C. Adolphi. Gutes sehr schön. (Netherlands, province of Holland, rijksdaalder of 1693, Dordrecht mint. Good Very Fine.)"
This type of 1606-14, 1619-31, 1634-36, 1640, 1644, 1648-53, 1656-59, 1662, 1674-76, 1683-87 and 1693 evolved from the "prince's daalder" (Dav-8841) of the prior century. The type is listed fairly inexpensively in low grade but is very scarce in nice condition. These were generally weakly struck on bad planchets.
