Overijssel 1699 rijksdaalder Dav-4832
This specimen was lot 81 in Schulman auction 388 (Amsterdam, December 2025), where it sold for €6,000 (about US$8,454 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Nederlandse rijksdaalder, OVERIJSSEL Provincie 1581 - 1795, 1699, Silver Type Ic. Gelauwerd borstbeeld naar rechts met zwaard en wapen met klimmende leeuw zonder IJssel aan lint en titel MO: NO: ARG: - CONF: BELG: PRO: TRANS 5-bladige bloem. Kz. generaliteitswapen tussen jaartal CONCORDIA: RES: PARVAE: CRESCVNT:. Binnencirkels op beide zijden. RRRR. Jaartal van de allerhoogste zeldzaamheid. Zeer fraai +. (Dutch rixdollar of 1699, province of Overijssel, type Ic. Obverse: laureate bust right with sword inside a circle of pearls, holding the provincial arms by a ribbon; reverse: crowned arms of the Generality divide the date, above, a rosette privy mark. Date of the utmost rarity. Very Fine +.)"
The SCWC incorrectly cross references their KM 64 to Dav-4681, which is a leeuvendaalder. While Nederlandse rijksdaalders from this province are not rare, the ones that turn up are the earlier dates (1606-07, 1610-23, 1628-29 and 1651). This is possibly the last Nederlandse rijksdaalder ever struck.
