Holland 1672 silver ducat Dav-4898
This specimen was lot 3021 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €105 (about US$149 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"EUROPÄISCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · NIEDERLANDE, HOLLAND Provinz. Silberdukat (Zilveren Dukaat) 1672. Hübsche Patina, leicht dezentriert, sehr schön. (Netherlands, province of Holland, silver ducat of 1672. Handsome patina, slightly off center, very fine.)"
Silver ducats from the province of Holland are not listed as rare but we have been able to only post a few. The type is listed for 1659-70 (Dav-4896), 1672-74, 1679-80, 1683-84, 1693-95 (Dav-4898) and 1735-1800 (Dav-1840). Double silver ducats also exist.
