This specimen was lot 30283 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Holland. Provincial 2 Ducaton 1673 AU58 PCGS, Amsterdam mint. A massive example struck on an extremely thick planchet, featuring an armored rider atop a horse and crowned, supported arms. Both the obverse and reverse present lightly toned surfaces with considerable, underlying brightness and stunning auburn highlights that encircle the legends. Seldom encountered and well-deserving of a strong bid." The SCWC notes that the regular issue runs 1672-94 and 1716-21; double ducatons are noted for 1671-93.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 65.56 g, 0.941 fine silver.
