This specimen was lot 34036 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $7,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands: Holland. Provincial Klippe Double Ducaton (2 Silver Rider) 1673 AU55 NGC, An imposing piece and one we have yet to handle as a Klippe. Certainly among the more visually interesting pieces in the sale as such, and bestowed a commendable near-Mint State assignment, will be quite popular when crossing the auction block. Tied for the finest at NGC. From the Coenen Collection." This exact issue is listed in the SCWC under Amsterdam. KM P11 is a single weight klippe while KM P12 is a triple weight klippe. Klippes (coins struck on square planchets) were less popular in the Netherlands than in Germany but were made occasionally for presentation.
