This specimen was lot 945 in Jean Elsen sale 165 (Brussels, June 2026), where it sold for €200 (about US$276 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ALLEMAGNE, HESSE-CASSEL, Wilhelm V (1627-1637), AR Taler, 1638 LH. D/ Lion couronné rampant à g. À g., une étoile. R/ Sous le nom de Jahvé rayonnant, un fagot de blé plié par le vent, devant cinq maisons. Griffes. Légères traces de corrosion. Beau à Très Beau. (Germany, landgraviate of Hesse-Cassel, William V, 1627-37, silver thaler of 1638. Obverse: crowned lion rampant left, a star to the left; reverse: under the Name of God in a glory, a tree bends in the wind before five houses. Scratches, evidence of corrosion, Fine - Very Fine.)"

This is not an issue of William V, who died in 1637, but of his son William VI (1637-63) while under the regency of his mother. Several varieties exist; this one shows William's title as "LANDGRAVI9". Other thalers of 1638 include KM 179.3/Dav-6775A, KM 180.3/Dav-6776, KM 180.4.
