The first specimen was lot 5732 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €240 (about US$334 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, FÜRSTENTUM, Georg III. 1760-1820. 1/6 Taler (6 Mariengroschen) 1791, Clausthal. Mit der geteilten Jahreszahl zu den Seiten des Wappens. Prachtexemplar. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Aus der Sammlung eines Ingenieurs. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 64, Osnabrück 2001, Nr. 4800. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, George III, 1760-1820, one sixth thaler of 1791, Clausthal mint, with the arms dividing the date. Choice example, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

The second specimen was lot 46042 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 6 Mariengroschen (1/6 Taler), 1791-C. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg III (George III of Great Britain). NGC MS-63." Many different types of this denomination exist, with the wild man (KM 348, 386, 395, 401), with the king's bust (KM 370, 382, 389, 400, 404, 415) or with St. Andrew holding his cross (KM 298, 342, 419). This variety of 1790-91 shows the wild man on the reverse and "N·R·D·F·" on the obverse. In 1791, the state was still technically the electorate of Brunswick-Luneburg but everybody called it Hannover, a situation formalized when it was reconstituted the kingdom of Hannover in 1815.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, the first specimen 3,22 g.

Catalog reference: KM 395, Welter 2843; Smith 243.
